Admission requirements
This page outlines the updated admission requirements for students planning to enrol in October 2026 and later.

To become a student at Toronto Film School, you will need to complete the following steps:

Complete and submit an online application form.

Pay the (non-refundable) application fee of $150.

Provide original academic transcripts (or notarized translations) showing completion of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.

Submit the requirements for your program of choice (see ‘Requirements by Program’ below).

Additional requirement for international applicants: provide proof of English-language proficiency.

Additional requirement for international applicants: Send a copy of your passport.
Please note that if you are over 18 and not enrolling directly from secondary school you may be asked to take a mature student test.
Students can cancel a contract within two days of signing it if they deliver a written notice of cancellation to Toronto Film School at the address shown on the contract; otherwise the application fees are non-refundable.

GAME DEVELOPMENT
Exemption Policy: Applicants who have successfully completed a recognized Bachelor’s degree program that includes a comparable mathematics component (e.g., Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or other related fields with equivalent math coursework) may be exempted from the Math Assessment Test at the discretion of the Admissions Committee. Official transcripts will be required to verify eligibility for exemption.

Graduation Requirements for All Programs
To graduate, you need to complete all courses in the chosen program with a 1.7 (C-) Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) in the 4.3 scale.
The following hours must be completed, per program:

Film, Screenwriting and Video Game programs: 1728 hours

Acting for Film, TV and Theatre: 1512 hours

Graphic Design: 1152 hours
Any course with a grade W or F must be retaken in order to graduate.
