Future of Canada’s Film, TV & Video Game Industries Celebrated at 2024 TFS Film Festival
Toronto, ON, April 25, 2024 – A flock of film, television and video game industry leaders will be on hand at the TIFF Lightbox on Thursday, May 16 to celebrate the future stars of Canada’s creative industries at Toronto Film School’s 2024 Film Festival.
“The TFS Film Fest marks a special time of year, as students from all programs at TFS come together to celebrate the work of their fellow classmates and alumni,” said Andrew Barnsley, Toronto Film School’s Golden Globe and Emmy-winning president.
“This event marks one of the highlights of my year, getting to celebrate with our students and their families and friends. I am also pleased to have so many industry professionals joining in the celebration to honour and connect with our next wave of emerging talent.”
This year’s screening is slated to showcase the top 32 short films, 4 short documentaries, and 4 music videos to emerge from the festival’s record-setting 140 submissions of student thesis film and capstone projects.
By the end of the night, those finalists will be narrowed even further – thanks to the festival’s esteemed panel of judges – when the winners of the prestigious Pinnacle Awards are announced in 21 categories, including:

Helping TFS narrow the field during the 2024 festival’s adjudication process was a panel of judges consisting of TFS faculty, as well as industry representatives from this year’s sponsors, including Blue Ant Media, Equinoxe Films, Ubisoft, JALI Inc, Shaftesbury Inc, Universal Music, Alter Ego, Canadian Film Fest, Meridian Artists, Pacific Artists, HectiQ Artists, Vaughan International Film Festival, Niagara Canada Film Festival, SONY and Gallagher Insurance.
The daylong festival, which will begin at 10 a.m. with the first screening, and end at midnight following the Pinnacle Awards ceremony and after party, will allow participating TFS students and alumni ample opportunity to network with these industry professionals and showcase their talents for them.
