Meet David Rawlings: Film Production Student and Aspiring Filmmaker

You may remember David as our pal from across the pond. He put together a crowdfunding campaign so he could come from England to Canada to pursue his dreams of becoming a filmmaker. #GetDavid2TFS. Now in Canada, he has already worked on some amazing projects and made some awesome connections in the industry!

“Filmmaking has always been something I have been passionate about. I’ve had opportunities to work partly in the industry back home, but never had the current flow of work. I wanted to further myself as a filmmaker and I knew there was a lot for me to learn, that’s why I decided to come to Toronto Film School.”

“I chose Toronto because the industry is quite big here. There are a lot of opportunities for me to work in the field.”

“Since being in the course, I’ve worked on various music videos and TV shows, so I am making loads of contacts. I’ve worked on a music video for a country singer to a rap artist to a cheesy pop artist, and through that I am meeting people in the industry, and had offers to work on commercials in the coming weeks so it has been really good.”

“I’ve always liked editing. In term one, I really enjoyed the editing course. We had a really good assignment we had to do and it was really personal assignment to me. The reaction I got from the students and teacher was great.”

Check out one of the short films he made:

“My piece of advice is, work hard, attend every lesson, really focus, don’t be afraid to ask questions about working outside the industry, because you will get these contacts. And enjoy it!”

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using 'Content here, content here', making it look like readable English.
