MovieMaker Magazine Names Toronto Film School One of the Best Film Schools in U.S. and Canada

For the third consecutive year, MovieMaker magazine has named Toronto Film School to its list of the Best Film Schools in the U.S. and Canada.

The Los Angeles-based industry publication singled out Toronto Film School’s 18-month Film Production program in its Outstanding Film Production Training category for 2021.

“We assemble our annual list based on interviews, research, questionnaires, rubrics, reputation and notable alumni, among other considerations, and this year we were especially impressed with Toronto Film School’s outstanding Film Production training,” said Tim Molloy, editor in chief of MovieMaker.

“It prepares students for real-world filmmaking, and they can start the moment they graduate (and, of course, even sooner) in one of the world’s great film capitals: opportunities obviously abound in Toronto.”

Taught on campus at Toronto Film School’s new 17,387 square-foot facility in downtown Toronto, the Film Production program offers students a fast-paced, hands-on and highly collaborative education that covers all areas of filmmaking – all taught by instructors who are industry-active filmmakers themselves.

From writing and analyzing screenplays, to developing storyboards, and creating shot lists, to preparing budgets and schedules – Toronto Film School Film Production students learn to shoot, direct, block, light scenes and capture audio, as well as assemble, cut and manipulate footage.

In addition to its world-class Film Production program, Toronto Film School’s other diploma offerings include Acting for Film, TV & the Theatre, Graphic Design & Interactive Media, Video Game Design & Animation, Video Game Design & Development, and Writing for Film & Television – the latter of which earned MovieMaker’s Outstanding Screenwriting Training accolades last year in its 2020 listing of the Best Film Schools in North America.

“The fact that last year we highlighted Toronto Film School’s outstanding screenwriting training should give you a good sense of what a well-rounded and all-around excellent program it offers,” Molloy added.

MovieMaker also applauded Toronto Film School in 2019 for its All-Encompassing Production Training.
