TFS’s Acting Program Listed Top 20 in Canada by Casting Workbook
Toronto Film School has been listed as one of the Top 20 Canadian Acting Schools for 2021 by Casting Workbook – a global leading provider of full-service casting software to casting, production, agencies and actors.
Each of the schools included on the inaugural list were selected based on an extensive review of curriculum information, public ratings and surveys, media analysis, and private industry-expert consultation.
Hart Massey, director of TFS’s Acting for Film, TV & the Theatre program, said he was “thrilled” at being recognized by Casting Workbook (CWB) as one of the country’s best and brightest.
“CWB has been a leader in the entertainment industry, having connected thousands of actors with agents and casting directors worldwide. To be chosen by CWB as a top acting school is a real testament to the quality of our program and how far we’ve come in developing a student body and faculty of the highest standards in this field,” Massey said of TFS’s 18-month diploma program, which applies the Stanislavski Method to blend film and television acting with the critical foundations of stage technique.
“I am so honoured and proud to be leading the TFS acting program and look forward to continuing to build a school that is truly like no other in this country.”
In its profile of Toronto Film School’s Acting for Film, TV & the Theatre, CWB highlighted the school’s faculty of highly connected industry professionals, as well as its hands-on approach to learning.
“TFS counts on award-winning instructors to provide actors with the most current industry insights and best practices, as well as exciting networking opportunities,” CWB’s comments read.
“Courses and projects at Toronto Film School are designed to emulate industry-like work environments to prepare students for their career after graduation. The school’s graduates have gone on to work on acclaimed productions as The Shape of Water, The Lion King, Suicide Squad and The Handmaid’s Tale.
Beginning in October 2021, Casting Workbook Pro members will be able to attend a free virtual acting class or workshop experience from one of the top listed schools each month, and access previous months’ classes as part of their membership.
Susan Fox, the CEO and Founder of Casting Workbook said the partnership between CWB and its Top 20 acting schools to provide free classes for its members falls in line with the company’s mandate to “create a convergence between education and industry.”
“Working with top acting schools and universities, we provide industry education, as well as hosting graduating class showcases to talent agents and casting directors. We are thrilled to bring the top acting schools to our members as a part of this mandate,” she said in a statement, noting that the first five free acting classes for CWB’s fall/winter line-up are already scheduled, with Toronto Film School’s session slated for December.
