Toronto Film School Students Bring ’12 Angry Jurors’ to Factory Theatre This March

Toronto Film School’s acting students will bring one of theatre’s most enduring courtroom dramas to life next month, when their production of 12 Angry Jurors takes the stage at Factory Theatre for a free three-night run.
Adapted from Reginald Rose’s 1964 play, 12 Angry Men, and directed by Christel Bartelse, the 90-minute play follows twelve jurors deliberating a murder trial, as one juror urges the others to confront reasonable doubt.
“It is a tense courtroom drama that examines prejudice, justice, reasonable doubt and the dangers of groupthink within the judicial system,” said Bartelse, noting that the TFS production of 12 Angry Jurors has been adapted to allow for “a beautifully diverse cast and a dynamic mix of men and women, adding even greater depth to this production.”
Bartelse said she was thrilled to delve into the classic play with the “dedicated, determined and talented” young Acting for Film, TV & the Theatre students who make up her cast.
“It has been an absolute pleasure to dive into this powerful play, which continues to resonate with remarkable impact more than seventy years after it was written,” she said.
“Throughout our rehearsal process, we found ourselves engaged in deep discussions, debates, and thoughtful questioning – conversations that felt just as timely and urgent as they did when the play was first written,” she added.
“This is why the story remains so relevant today: it is not merely about a jury, but about how human beings think, argue, judge, and ultimately take responsibility. And that part of us has not changed.”
12 Angry Jurors, which is stage managed by Elsa Gomez-Yaniz, will take to the stage at Factory Theatre for a three-performance run as follows:
- Tuesday, March 10 at 7:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, March 11 at 7:30 p.m.
- Thursday, March 12 at 7:30 p.m.
Factory Theatre is located at 125 Bathurst St. Tickets are free and available at the door.
