The Film Student TV – Flash
In episode 2 of The Film Student, Daniel McIndoe’s pitch “Flash” beat out Sean Williams’s dramedy “Half a Heart” for the greenlight from TFS’ panel of judges. “Flash” is a story about a 16-year-old boy who gets into a serious accident. His life begins to flash before his eyes and his mother appears to guide him through.
The heavy subject-matter of this film can be a challenge to pull off, but Daniel focused on using different transition techniques to keep the narrative moving along. In the first half of the episode, we follow Daniel and his crew and get to see some of the behind-the-camera tricks they used. He did a great job focussing on lighting each scene properly, and inserting the green screen effects in a convincing manner.
At the end of the film, we are led to question how life itself should be measured. In years? or happiness?
“Flash” was inspired by Daniel McIndoe’s childhood friend who died at a young age.
