How to Make a Princess Dress: TFS students go the extra mile to surprise preschool children in Yellowknife

When Fashion Design students at the Toronto Film School received letters from preschool students in Yellowknife, asking how a princess dress is made, they decided a simple reply wouldn’t suffice.

The letters came from St. Joseph School in Yellowknife. The pre-school class was learning about letter writing and a few students decided to write to the Toronto Film School to find out how princess dresses are made, what does a princess wear to bed and how pockets and purses are made.

Instead of just writing the children back, a group of Toronto Film School Fashion Design students decided to make, not only a child’s size princess holiday dress, but also a princess nightgown and an outfit for a prince.

They recorded the making of the dress and have mailed the video, the three outfits and a letter back to Yellowknife. The preschoolers have no idea that these amazing garments are on the way.
