Toronto Film School’s Acting Program Ranked One of the Best in Canada by CourseCompare

Acting

Toronto Film School‘s Acting for Film, TV & the Theatre program has been named one of the Best Acting Schools in Canada for 2026 by CourseCompare, landing in the top 10 on the national list.

CourseCompare developed its acting school rankings based on employer reputation, graduate outcomes, industry feedback and student ratings. The ranking looks for programs that go beyond technique – in CourseCompare’s words, ones that “help you build confidence, develop your range, and connect with mentors, peers, and industry insiders, all of which can be invaluable as you launch a career as an actor.”

In its write-up on Toronto Film School, CourseCompare described the program as “a hands-on, collaborative learning opportunity covering all aspects of filmmaking,” highlighting its small class sizes and ample one-on-one instruction and mentoring. Students train at TFS’s campus at 120 Bloor St. E. in downtown Toronto, building professional networks both in the classroom and out in the field.

Student feedback was among the factors CourseCompare weighed in building its rankings, and graduate Emily Larman’s 2022 review on the platform reflects why TFS stands out:

“The absolute best decision I have ever made was joining the TFS family. I graduated just last month from the Acting program, and I miss it more and more every day,” she wrote. “The learning experience was like none other – we were taught not only everything about acting and the business behind it, but also every other aspect of filmmaking. If you’re debating applying, stop debating, do it.”

The Acting for Film, TV & the Theatre program is an 18-month, on-campus diploma that covers all areas of acting – from the artistic and technical, to the business side of the industry. Classes are taught by working actors, and students graduate with a demo reel ready for auditions, as well as eligibility for their first ACTRA credit. CourseCompare noted that graduates leave prepared for a range of creative roles, including film and TV actor, theatre actor, voice-over artist (for TV, film, radio and video games), screenwriter, filmmaker, director and producer.
