TFS Student Kristin Govers to Livestream The Awkward Ballerina in Support of New Fundraising Campaign

Toronto Film School student Kristin Govers is inviting audiences near and far to a free livestream performance of her acclaimed solo show The Awkward Ballerina later this month as part of a grassroots fundraising push for her next project.
Govers, who’s studying in TFS’s Online Writing for Film & Television program, first shared her story with TFS last year ahead of her run at Fringe Windsor. The Awkward Ballerina is a true story about her childhood as an aspiring ballet dancer with cerebral palsy, and the obstacles she faced and overcame along the way.
Now, Govers is preparing to bring the second chapter of her autobiographical trilogy to life: Pregnant… And It’s Still Awkward!, which follows her nine-month pregnancy journey.
She described the new show as “a laugh-out-loud tale full of absurdity and awkwardness” that tells “the story of my 9-month-long pregnancy journey and the woes that come with doing it all in a non-cooperative body.”

The upcoming August 20 livestream of The Awkward Ballerina is being organized by Govers’ production company, Two Left Feet Productions MTL, after the team did not receive a Canada Arts Grant for the new production.
As Govers explained, “I am turning to the community to bring Part 2 of the trilogy to life.”
The stream is free to attend and will be hosted live on YouTube, as well as through the campaign page, giving new audiences a chance to discover the show and past attendees an opportunity to revisit it. While attending is free, Govers is encouraging anyone who enjoys the performance to help spread the word about the fundraiser to support the next production.
