As always, I’d like to start the year by giving you the latest news from the Writing for Film and Television (WFT) Program at Toronto Film School.
WFT grads continue to impress. After writing an extremely well-received commercial treatment for Garnier, 2014 graduate Anthony Feor has now been commissioned to write another commercial treatment, this time for Cadillac.
And 2013 graduate Adrian De Vuono has continued to thrive as a music video director. After a successful debut directing the video ‘By The Balls’ for Canary Mine (aka Canadian Pines), Adrian has now completed the video for ‘How To Love’ by Modern Hearts.
We commend Anthony and Adrian on their hard work and determination in reaching such an impressive level so soon after graduation.
And WFT faculty have as always, been extremely busy. Matthew Miller’s feature ‘Operation Avalanche’ is currently in post-production, set for completion this summer. Matthew produced and story edited the film, which has recently procured Lionsgate for its North American distribution.

Kyle Muir is currently showrunning a primetime comedy series for Teletoon starring El Tabador — the luchador wrestler from the Koodo ads. The series is being produced by Carl Demarco, former World Wrestling Entertainment senior executive. As well, Kyle’s half-hour post-apocalyptic comedy ‘After The End’ is in development with Just For Laughs. He is also writing for the hit animated series ‘Fugget About It’ airing on Hulu in the US and Teletoon in Canada.
Max and Adam Reid recently received development funding for a currently untitled one-hour crime drama at the CBC. In addition, the brothers have been commissioned to do a polish on ‘The Black Strand’, a horror film they are writing for director Brad Peyton (‘Journey 2: The Mysterious Island’). The pair also just obtained Harold Greenberg funding for their horror comedy ‘Ghost Man’, to be directed by Craig David Wallace (‘Todd & The Book of Pure Evil’).
And Michael Paszt’s film ‘Turbo Kid’ has been invited to The Sundance Film Festival in the Midnight category. Michael executive produced the film, and his company Raven Banner is the Canadian distributor.
What a great start to 2015 WFT, all the best for the coming term!
